Grasshopper course on your own project. Describe geometry instead of drawing it.
Layer 02, the process: turning a form into a procedure. Variants at the push of a slider, changes without rework, fabrication data out of the same file.

Three starting points, one course
The material stays the same. What changes is the project we run it through.
When the same geometry keeps coming back
Variants you can produce in minutes instead of starting over each time. The fastest way to get more proposals out of the same hours.
Teams rebuilding the same geometry
Training on your own project files. What remains is not an exercise but a definition the studio keeps using.
Architecture, industrial design, product development
For the final project that will change three more times. We build it so the fourth change takes ten minutes instead of two days.
What we go through
In this order, because each module stands on the one before. Pace and depth adapt — the order does not.

Data flow instead of clicking
The shift in your head: you stop building geometry and start building the instructions for it. Components, parameters, wires — and why one slider is worth a hundred clicks.

Lists
Everything in Grasshopper is a list. Once that lands, most of the error messages stop on their own.

Data trees
The point where most people give up and start copying definitions off the internet without understanding them. We do not stop here — we stay until Graft and Flatten are no longer guesswork.

Building curves and surfaces parametrically
From the driving curve to the surface and back. Dividing, lofting, working along surfaces — cleanly enough that Rhino actually likes the geometry afterwards.

Attractors and fields
Facade patterns, perforations, density gradients. The technique that makes a pattern respond to a point, a curve or an image brightness — and how to steer it rather than let it happen.

Mesh, SubD and relaxation
When NURBS run out. Building meshes, smoothing them, putting them under tension — the basis for anything later built from fabric, sheet metal or a strut framework.

From definition to machine
Unrolling, nesting, labelling, exporting. The step that decides everything else: without it a definition is a picture, with it a part.

Cleaning up and handing over
Clusters, names, documentation, remote panels. The goal is a definition your colleague understands in ten minutes — and that you still understand in six months.

Python and C# in Grasshopper Optional
For everything there is no component for. Only if you want it — the first eight modules work completely without a line of code.

What you can do afterwards
A model that can change
The client moves the axis by 40 centimetres. You drag a slider instead of remodelling for three days.
Variants, not versions
Twenty runs in the time one used to take — and all twenty are comparable, because they come from the same definition.
Straight into fabrication
Unrolling, nesting and labelling come out of the same file as the model. No redrawing, no transcription errors.
The Rhino 8 course with its focus on Grasshopper exceeded my expectations, thanks to Björn. As a beginner I benefited from his clear, step-by-step explanations. Topics covered the interface, 2D and 3D design, SubD and Grasshopper. His practical, professional approach helped me understand real applications. An absolute recommendation for anyone learning Rhino 8.
Do I need to be able to code?
No. Grasshopper is visual — you connect blocks, you do not write code. Module 09 is the only part with Python and C#, and it is optional.
Do I need to know Rhino first?
The fundamentals, yes: navigation, layers, a feel for NURBS. Without them the ground is missing. If they are, we put a short Rhino module in front — ten minutes on the first call settles it.
Is Grasshopper enough on its own?
No, and it is not meant to be. Grasshopper generates geometry; Rhino edits, checks and exports it. Throughout the course we work in both windows at once.
Can we book this as company training?
Yes. We train on your own project files, at a group size that makes sense, on site around Vienna or online. Billed by invoice, NDA on request.
Talk first, plan after
A short call to work out where you are and what you want to build. After it you get a proposal that fits both — or the honest answer that you do not need one.
