Rhino course on your own project. Model it cleanly, everything else follows.
Layer 01, the form. If the geometry is wrong here, neither Grasshopper nor AI will save it later. From the tolerance setting to fabrication-ready output.

Three starting points, one course
The material stays the same. What changes is the project we run it through.
Architects, designers, planners
You decide alone and pay for it yourself. So we work on what wins you jobs next week.
Teams that want it in-house
Training on your own project files. What remains is not an exercise but something the studio keeps using.
Architecture, industrial design, product development
Reduced rate against proof of enrolment. For the final project that will change three more times.
What we go through
In this order, because each module stands on the one before. Pace and depth adapt — the order does not.
- 01
The setup
Interface, navigation, layers — and units and tolerance. Tolerance is the most consequential number in Rhino and almost nobody sets it deliberately. Later it is the cause of most holes in surfaces.
UnitsToleranceLayerGumballOsnap - 02
Drawing cleanly
Curves with continuity rather than curves that roughly fit. The difference only shows three steps later, when a surface grows an edge that does not belong there.
CurveBlendCrvMatchCurvatureGraph - 03
Building surfaces
Lofting, sweeping, networking, patching — and when each is the right one. Four routes to the same surface, three of which create work later.
LoftSweep2NetworkSrfPatch - 04
Solids and booleans
Where booleans fail and what to do when they do. Fillets, wall thicknesses, closed polysurfaces.
BooleanUnionFilletEdgeShellCap - 05
SubD
The organic side of Rhino 8. When SubD gets there faster than NURBS — and how to convert back cleanly when fabrication wants NURBS.
SubDBoxBridgeToNURBSSubDDisplay - 06
Repairing other people’s files
The skill that makes you hard to replace. Finding naked edges, merging surfaces, rescuing broken STEP and IGES imports.
ShowEdgesUntrimMergeSrfRebuildEdges - 07
Drawings and output
From model to drawing: deriving views, dimensioning, setting up layouts, printing to scale.
Make2DLayoutDimPrint - 08
Into fabrication
Unrolling, sectioning, exporting. STEP for the workshop, DXF for laser and router, and the check beforehand that saves a lot of money later.
UnrollSrfContourDXF ExportSTEP Export - 09
Handing over to Grasshopper Bridge
How a Rhino model has to be built so Grasshopper can work with it. The bridge to the next course.

What you can do afterwards
Models that hold
Closed surfaces, deliberate tolerances, a structure someone else can follow. No more rework the night before a deadline.
Rescuing other files
The broken STEP import from a supplier stops being a day’s work and becomes fifteen minutes.
Ready for Grasshopper
A model that can be taken further parametrically, instead of one you would have to rebuild first.
The one-to-one Rhino 8.0 training with Björn Jelinek in March 2024, split across several online sessions, moved me forward enormously. Since then I understand Rhino far better and faster, the models are more accurate, the results are many times better, and it is simply fun to build really cool things with Rhino.
Do I need prior knowledge?
No. We fit pace and depth to your level. If you come from another CAD system we go through the way of thinking first — usually a bigger shift than the commands.
Is Rhino enough, or do I need Grasshopper too?
For conventional modelling Rhino is entirely enough. Grasshopper becomes interesting as soon as the same geometry repeats in variants or changes often. We settle that in ten minutes on the first call.
Rhino 7 or Rhino 8?
We work in Rhino 8. If your studio is still on 7 we go through the differences that affect you — above all SubD and the reworked fabrication side.
Mac or Windows?
Either works. The differences have narrowed but still touch a few commands and plug-ins; I set the course up around the system you actually use.
Talk first, plan after
A short call to work out where you are and what you want to build. After it you get a proposal that fits both — or the honest answer that you do not need one.
